This song is used in the new iPod Nano commercial. Song by Feist. All taken in one seamless shot. Brilliant!

"1234"
Feist
One Two Three Four
Tell me that you love me more
Sleepless long nights
That is what my youth was for

Old teenage hopes are alive at your door
Left you with nothing but they want some more

Oh, you're changing your heart
Oh, You know who you are

Sweetheart bitterheart now I can tell you apart
Cosy and cold, put the horse before the cart

Those teenage hopes who have tears in their eyes
Too scared to own up to one little lie

Oh, you're changing your heart
Oh, you know who you are

One, two, three, four, five, six, nine, or ten
Money can't buy you back the love that you had then
One, two, three, four, five, six, nine, or ten
Money can't buy you back the love that you had then

Oh, you're changing your heart
Oh, you know who you are
Oh, you're changing your heart
Oh, you know who you are
Oh, who you are

For the teenage boys
They're breaking your heart
For the teenage boys
They're breaking your heart

You may want to consider selling your DNA. They pay $5000.

Aside from that come-on, you also help researchers. But beware, they could actually hold the patent to your DNA (insert The Twilight Zone music here *)

"Thanks to the U.S. Patent office, your DNA can be patented, protecting your blueprint and putting your DNA on file for scientific purposes."

Like it's a good thing. Or is it?

Blog EntryMore weirdnessJun 23, '07 4:50 AM
for everyone
I don't know how long this tag has been going on. I'm unreliable with tags because if I'm not feeling it, I can;t answer.

Anyway, somehow I got through this one from Lynette. Here are the rules:

"Each player of this game starts with 6 weird things about himself or herself. People who get tagged need to write a blog entry of their own as well as state the rule clearly. In the end, you need to tag 6 people as well and list their names. "

  1. I can’t grow my nails long. I just can’t. There is nothing logical about it, I just can’t. The moment they start looking manicure ready, I cut them off, or worse, start biting them.
  2. I can raise my left eyebrow … only the left eyebrow and the right one doesn't move at all. And I can make my nostrils flare at will.
  3. I’m kind of hairless. I don’t have any noticeable hairs on my arms. And I have very thin hairs in my nose.
  4. I detest the smell of any laundry detergent (I can tolerate Mild variant of Perwoll, but barely). It makes me sneeze. And to think I do the laundry … No. 2 is probably the reason why I am so sensitive to smells. Sometimes even the merest whiff of detergent on my clothes irritates me.
  5. I sneeze really loud, just like my Lolo. He hangs on to something solid, sneezes and we feel the earth (ok, wooden floor) quake and see window shingles shaking. Think of me as a mini-quake, especially when doing the laundry.
  6. My study table is a horrendous mess. But my files are in top-top order. But I just as easily find something in both. Order in chaos, order in order.
Any of my batchmates are tagged!

Hopefully no one is suffering from voter's remorse as we find out who are next bunch of leaders are ... Got this in a forwarded email. Just want to post it here for everyone.

Miriam Defensor Santiago was featured in Correspondents last week.

sa Maintenance and Operating Expenses (Rental, Utilities, Supplies at

There's food for everybody 'ika nga!

Should I ...

Maintaining multiple blogs can be quite crazy at times. The reason why this blog (this being the original one too) has been so unupdated is because I have two other blogs:

It goes without saying that I am not touching Dui's blog. This is more for family and friends.
But what to do with this blog and the foodie thingy?

What with customization now possible here in multiply plus the fact that blogcharm isnt "making me money" (as it claims it would), why bother? I also noticed that the most commented/visited items here in multiply are in fact my foodie related posts. Oh, and setting privacy here "seems" to be better.

Anyway ...
I'd love to hear from anyone out there who pops in here, even once in a  while. :)

Blog EntryMassage time!Oct 9, '06 9:04 AM
for everyone
When I feel the beginnings of a cold or flu coming on, what do I do? No, I don't reach for a pill. I go get a massage. This is exactly what Yeng and I did recently.

Am recuperating from what I swear could've been a full blown case of the flu. What with the weird weather changes, I've been getting a scratchy throat in the morning and  strange aches and pains. And as I was getting well, Yeng suddenly seemed to have my symptoms. Ha, transferred my germs to him!

So off we went to get that much-needed massage with our trusty container of olive oil in hand.

Our favorite place is Sharper Image along Congressional. For P390, you get to use their sauna for 30 minutes and a whole blissful hour (give or give 15 minutes) of massage - Swedish or Thai, take your pick. The place is clean and the massage therapists well trained.

Our favorites: Ruth (if you need a light touch and want to relax), Diding or Lisa (if you need a hard massage and get rid of those achy achy aches of an oncoming flu bout).

Enjoy!

Tags and wordclouds seem to be really in. We tag everything here in Multiply. It's an easy way of finding out whats exactly written in a blog, and the font size also indicates how much you've been yapping about something too.

Getting even more finicky and OC?

Try Zoomclouds.

Or just a one-time thing you'd possibly like in a post or a shirt? Try Snapshirts.

Blog EntryI scream for (ice-cream) sherbet!Mar 20, '06 11:02 AM
for everyone
With summer around the corner, it’s getting really hot. To cope, I’ve been eating ice-cream. I think I am developing an obsession for Arce Dairy’s products. Each time we pass the ice cream section, I’ve been grabbing up the unusual flavors.

But this by far is one of my top picks. A bowl of ice? Not too far off ... sherbet! Buco lechias. Buco is young coconut. Lechias is lychee. Imagine iced buco juice with a few strips of young coconut and bits of lychees. Sweet, succulent ... and so refreshing for these hot days!

I don’t know if it’s less fattening, at the rate I’ve been eating it though. (Especially since I eat ice cream too). Dui elicits giggles from her cousins when she starts yelling for her bowl of buco LECHAS! She strangely prefers it over ice cream.

Was chatting with mommy while we were having a bowl each of buco lechias sherbet after another leisurely dinner. She remembers that as a child that were street hawkers of sherbet. Kind of like those bringing around taho to your doorstep. I wonder what happened to those?

I’ve got this on my list of things to do: make my own sherbet. Because I doubt half a gallon really costs 190 pesos!

Follow this link ...

Blog EntryOn facial cleanser and recipesMar 20, '06 6:09 AM
for everyone
I am at an impasse. Is it a midlife crisis impending? I remember Tatay saying that I am at a crossroads and that he felt old. Now suddenly I feel old.

Now a few meanderings on nothing in particular.

Rave: Burt's Bees makes me extremely happy. I love most of their products (what can you say about their peppermint lip glosses and lip blams, and my fave: lemon butter cuticle cream) and I've recently bought their Orange Essence Facial Cleanser. Like all their products, it smells good enough to eat! I gave it a test run last night and came out smelling like mandarin oranges, and invigorated. It really doesn't dry out your skin, and while it feels pretty greasy going on (and there are no suds either) ... wow, what a far cry from the squeaky clean feeling I've gotten used to with Neutrogena products. Yeah, it's expensive but it IS an indulgence.

Rant: Multiply is going through these weird changes that I've had to change my format. if you noticed, my welcome page is now like any other ordinary blog. Why? Because the recipes link no longer comes out. With the recipes being a major feature, it looked pretty funny that it was no longer there. Ha!

So instead of ranting and getting frustrated, I created another blog especially for food. If you arent interested in all my mundane yakkings here (yeah, it's ok to say that, I still love you, dear friend), you can go to I'm Hungry. Everything food related is there - the resto reviews, recipes, food finds, etc. Now you can expect my Multiply site to have more miscellaneous stuff posted. Like about facial cleansers.

The first two actually scared me a bit! ;) Honestly, I've thought of myself in this (either) way. As for the pizza thingy, that's seemed more predictable. Hmmm....

You Are a Powdered Devil's Food Donut

A total sweetheart on the outside, you love to fool people with your innocent image.
On the inside you're a little darker, richer, and more complex.
You're a hedonist who demands more than one pleasure at a time.
Decadent and daring, you test the limits of human indulgence.
What Donut Are You?

You Are Chocolate Ice Cream

Dramatic. Powerful. Flirty.

Meatball Pizza

Unusual and uncompromising.
You're usually the first to discover a new trend.
You appreciate a good meal and good company.
You're an interesting blend of traditional and modern.

Blog EntryOjos de BrujoJan 28, '06 6:56 AM
for everyone
"Our music is possible because we are possible" - Silvia Calado Olivo of Ojos de Brujo, Madrid, November 2002

Ojos de Brujo. ODB. (insert fanatic scream lasting about ten whole seconds here)

I don’t have any of their albums (yet), but I was an instant fan. I think this group is absolutely brilliant!

Translated as “Eyes of the Warlock,” Ojos de Brujo is a collective of young (and radical) Spanish musicians based in Barcelona. They use flamenco as a foundation for their cross-genre experimentation - infusing elements of hip-hop, funk, salsa, and reggae. Then throw in some electronica and Barcelona street sounds too. Sound impossible? Listen here and tell me that it doesn’t work. Because it DOES work, and surprisingly well.

They’re called noveau flamenco by some. But ODB calls their brand of music "Jip Jop Flamenkillo" which they claim is “a sound that catapults flamenco into the 21st century without losing any of the power or passion of the music's roots.”

Oh so true. There is a dynamism there – the intricate guitarwork, the percussions, the impassioned vocals - so infectious that you want to jump up and dance! Or at the least, sing along! When I first downloaded Tiempo de Solea, I couldn’t get enough of it and played it for at least five times straight. In our iPOD, it got its major long play treatment in the car when we were stuck in horrendous traffic to watch New Year fireworks. It’s pretty difficult to remain crabby for 3 hours when you hear ODB!

I’ve been semi-singing-humming the song Tiempo de Solea for a few days, and Dui has been going “tio-tio VAN, tio-tio VAN VAN VAN” during her morning showers too that its becoming silly!

As in all my dabblings in world music, I got my first taste of Ojos de Brujo from Putumayo. Vacileo (“A Good Time”) is a danceable song that has strong Latin flavors and declares that: “Oh, I am cured by rumba / That’s how I have a good time …”

Tesoro (“Treasure”), meanwhile, is slower and quite subdued in comparison. It has romantic introductory guitarwork. The lyrics are quite bizarre (“Your face is a fish when you have fun” – err, romantic?) and incorporates local slang (“Donderei donerara”). These aside, you could fall in love to this song. Hubby and I dance this sometimes during our “feeling Latin dancers” moods.

As a sidebar, Ojos de Brujo has a grassroots and anti-corporate philosophy. While the music is in the forefront, ODB is not merely about music. They are a loose collective of various artists - graffiti, multimedia, designers, filmers, among others. "I don't want to say we belong to a political party," says Xavi, the group’s percussionist. "We don't like those kind of associations. We do believe in doing things for ourselves, in controlling our own productions, in being free and having a social commitment, trying to do something to make this a better world… and in this sense we maybe also a little political, since politics are also social." In fact, they released their album overseas through their own production company, La Fábrica de Colores (now Diquela Records).

So it’s no wonder then that in my quest to own my own ODB record, I have come up dry. I have found nada in all the music bars here in the Philippines. So I have had to settle for the smattering of songs in the Putumayo albums.

It seems that ODB is making waves in the UK market, generating an almost fanatical bunch of groupies. Makes me wonder if I may be a lone fan in the Philippines. I hope not, because if you have a full ODB album, I would probably scratch your eyes out to at least borrow it!

My next project is to learn some more Spanish so I can at least sing along to them and not feel like an oaf.
