I have come to love traditional music, so getting to meet this gracious man, Mr. Sridas, was a real treat. I chanced upon him at the Tamil Pavilion during the Folklorama in Winnipeg (and decided I needed to remember this link to his site).

He plays the veena, a modified guitar. He's also really good with the flute. Mr. Sridas specializes in Carnatic music. He has some samples on his site: http://sridas.com/audioclips.html

I enjoy his music which has a hypnotic quality to it. I bought his 3-CD set of him playing the veena. I was psyched that his CDs contained the traditional versions of Manasuloni and Sarasa, which I'd only heard "modernized" by Susheela Raman.

Yes, I did! This is my proof!

From: http://www.canadacool.com/COOLFACTS/ONTARIO/TorontoCNTower.html

Toronto, Ontario - Spend 58 seconds soaring up in a glass-walled elevator at Toronto's CN Tower and you find the highest mailbox in the world, an elegant restaurant called 360 that does a complete revolution every 72 minutes, and spectacular views from observation decks (you may even be able to spot the spray from Niagara Falls). But, the really cool view is the one straight down when you step out on to a 6 cm (2.5 inches) thick glass floor, 113 stories above ground. Don’t worry, it’s strong enough to support at least a dozen hippos. The CN Tower has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Tallest Building and it is designated a Wonder of the Modern World. You'll find it on Front St. beside Toronto's domed stadium, in the heart of the entertainment district.

Wait, should I jump? Maybe Superman will come and save me!?

The Horseshoe falls of Niagara here, in its majestry and grandeur ... and I was just a few meters away! The experience just took my breath away, although I would come back and look at the falls several times within 2 days.

In the distance you can see the American falls.

The Alpine Pavilion at this year's Folklorama was really entertaining! Here's one of their dances. It made me really dizzy, and I just took a clip!

It was really gusty. I found the movement of the clouds fascinating, so I took a quick clip. What a surprise when I catch a plane pass by!

Wandering around Winnipeg, I discovered so many beautiful murals on otherwise drab walls. Here are just a few of my bad shots from the car/bus. And at the risk of looking like such a tourist, when I am wandering about on foot! They're building up Winnipeg as the art and culture cradle of Canada and artists are flicking here!

They're hosting the first Mural Fest this year: http://www.muralfest.com/

And ... look at this entire website dedicated to their murals: http://themuralsofwinnipeg.com/

I didn't want to litter the beauty of the St. Boniface Cathedral with our silly faces, so here are the people-ridden photos of that same visit.

We went to the Manitoba Museum and kind of got lost on our way back to Benil's place. But it was good kind of lost as we got a better look at the city and the teeny details that make it so interesting ...

It wasn't our fist visit to the Manitoba Museum. Because we had to go watch the shows in their Planetarium!

We caught two shows (and lolo caught just one catnap!):
- The Night Sky . All about constellations!
- Is Anybody Out There? Do you believe in aliens, thinking creatures like us? Yes, no? Maybe this will convince you otherwise?

Looky here: http://www.imaxwinnipeg.com/DeepSea.html

Ypu've gotta watch it to believe how real it all looks! With sharks out to eat you and jellyfish flying into your face ....

These Winnipeg people sure have a love for these open air thingys. We went o have a picnic at Assiniboine Park one night and we are treated to soem Jazz from the Ron Paley Band. There was also someone called Yenko "something" who sang, apparently seh's big in Canada and was part of Canadian Idol.

No laughing, I forgot I was taking a video and not a photo so my clip starts off really funny.
